Picking fights

In the original Terminator, three young guys decide to pick on The Terminator based on the following information:

1. He doesn't seem to be entirely aware of his surroundings
2. He's naked
3. He has more muscle than all three of them combined

Given point 2, they must be aware of point 3. I have to wonder if this kind of thing happens in real life, and exactly when it starts seeming like a bad idea.
