Diablo 2

I started playing Diablo 2 with Deb, mostly at the recommendation of her sister Mia, and much to the amusement of my brother. The graphics are blocky and the controls are tricky on my laptop with just a trackpad. Still, this game has a massive advantage over, say, World of Warcraft or City of Heroes: we can play offline with each other or we can play online for free.

Mokalus of Borg

PS - I'm impressed that the game is still selling new copies this many years after release.
PPS - On the desktop, it demands that a game disc be in each of two drives before running.

Beware of haxxors on OpenBattle.Net.

Great game, the expansion is very much worth it, I recommend buying it if you can.

What are you playing?

My character is a barbarian and I am playing very badly. ;)

We haven't signed on to Battle.net yet, but may do so later to play with remote friends.

Mind if I roll up a character to join you? Been a while since I played D2 myself.

Sign me up as well. I loved playing D2 back in the day and still have a copy installed for a bit of nostalgia.

The Barbarian is a good choice as it has jump which is great for getting out of dodge when you need it. Melee classes are also so much easier to control when starting up.

i used to love that game, i was always the necromancer, nothing like being able to raise a few skeletons and a couple of demons to kick everyones ass for me... also golems rock the kasbar. i would have kept playing it if i had other people to play it with :S

The necromancer does sound like a good option. Maybe I'll try it out sometime.

If I'm playing online on the weekend, I'll let it be known here.

ahh, many of my life's hours wasted away (or not) playing D2. I was a druid half elf and loved it, i gots to strangle people with my magic vines, and i could summon crows to peck out your eyes!!!! haha
pity i do not have it on my laptop :(

I'm amazed at the popularity of this game, especially given its age.

I have purchased a basic USB optical mouse, mostly to enhance my Diablo 2 experience on the laptop. It's better now, except when the game lags and I die unexpectedly.

We should pick a game point (I can't remember if they are scenes or scenarios) with the aim to prepare a character to that stage and then organise an old skool LAN party/raid style date and get freaky!
