This week I heard about The Book Depository, an online UK bookshop that ships for free worldwide. Their prices even turn out better than bricks-and-mortar bookshops, let alone Amazon. I doubt I'll buy another book anywhere else for some time.

This is helpful - I've recently turned to Amazon for my book buying needs and although their prices are great, the shipping really hikes it up.
It does, doesn't it? And long ago I got sick of seeing advertising for "free shipping" on Amazon that turns out is only for the United States.
Comparing their prices to Amazon, it seems clear that The Book Depository is building shipping costs into the item prices, but when that still doesn't add up to Amazon full prices, I know where I'm going.
